The HRP-2 Promet from AIST has surely come a long way, where this robot is now able to handle minor changes in height on the ground which it is walking on. Of course, this is still a far cry away from Boston Dynamics’ BigDog, let alone another bipedal robot from the good people at Boston Dynamics (again) - we're talking about the PetMan this time round. Hopefully AIST will be able to play catch up, and fast! At least this is a good start, now for the real hard work to begin.

HRP-2 Promet tackles uneven terrain with aplomb
The HRP-2 Promet from AIST has surely come a long way, where this robot is now able to handle minor changes in height on the ground which it is walking on. Of course, this is still a far cry away from Boston Dynamics’ BigDog, let alone another bipedal robot from the good people at Boston Dynamics (again) - we're talking about the PetMan this time round. Hopefully AIST will be able to play catch up, and fast! At least this is a good start, now for the real hard work to begin.
